About Picture Cross
Picture Cross, also known as a nonogram, is a logic puzzle where the numbers along each row and column tell you how the filled squares are grouped. Work out which cells must be filled and which must be blank, and a picture emerges from the grid. Pure deduction, no guessing needed.
How to play
- Read the numbers beside each row and above each column.
- Each number is a run of filled squares, in that order, with at least one gap between runs.
- Tap a cell to fill it.
- Mark cells you know are empty so you do not re-check them.
- Complete every row and column to reveal the picture.
Controls: Tap to fill a cell; use the mark mode to flag empty ones. Drag to fill a run.
Tips
- Start with the longest clues — in a ten-wide row, a clue of eight leaves very little freedom.
- Overlap the leftmost and rightmost possible positions of a run; the shared cells are always filled.
- Mark blanks as you go. Unmarked empty cells are the main cause of mistakes.
